Last week, we had the opportunity to hear Vanessa Van Edwards speak on the science of connection. Her research on how leaders create meaningful relationships with their teams really resonated. We have done significant work with intact teams over the past 18 months and believe that high quality relationships really make a difference in teams moving from good to great.
Our workshops focus on building relationships and ultimately increasing trust so that members of the team feel a true sense of belonging and connection. Vanessa’s research shines light on the importance of leaders asking deeper questions and actively listening with openness to the answers.
Here are a few great conversation starters for your next team meeting:
- What’s currently your biggest goal? (Professional or Personal)
- What are you excited to be learning now?
- How do you feel you are most misunderstood at work?
The goal is to get people talking about things they feel deeply about…or are most interested in. Working to get beyond rote answers to create deeper more meaningful relationships.
When people feel seen and heard, engagement soars!

We Love Our Clients!
We have the pleasure of working with tremendous leaders and teams. Here is a quote from a recent client.
“Thank you for sharing your leadership workshop series with our leadership team. We really needed this experience and insight. It genuinely improved our communication and our bonds with each other.
Personally, I enjoyed watching you two work together so well and so happily. Thanks for being great at what you do.” Tara M. Tuttle, PhD, Assistant Dean for Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion, Lewis Honors College, University of Kentucky
Typically we work with teams over a 6-9 month period, meeting in person with the full team for half day sessions and individually for 1:1 coaching. We would be happy to talk with you about the development needs you see in your team and create a customized program to meet these needs.
